Radio Interview with President Seki from Australia (August 17)
On August 17, the President of Doro-Chiba, Michitoshi Seki, was interviewed on a radio show from Australia. The program is hosted by the President Jiselle Hanna of the Victorian Community and Public Service Union (CPSU). She has been leading the Doro-Chiba’s campaign to collect signatures in Australia calling for the reversal of 1,047 dismissed workers. She also participated in the July 11 Rally of Nationwide Campaign for the National Railway Workers.
Prior to the interview, we received a list of key questions in advance.
(1) Tell us who your union is, why it was formed, and why the struggle against the privatization of Japan National Railways is still being fought for nearly 40 years later?
(2) What is at stake in this case, and why do you believe it could finally expose the truth about the dismissal of the 1,047 railway workers?
(3) Explain us why the Division and Privatization of the Japan National Railways was not merely an economic reform, but a political project designed to weaken the labor union movement and pave the way for Japan’s rearmament.
(4) What has kept your members continued full commitment to this struggle, and what does this struggle mean for the Japanese labor movement as a whole?
(5) what message would you like to send to workers and trade unionists in Australia, and what does international solidarity mean to Doro-Chiba ?

Online Participation in the US Labor Fest (July 25)
On July 25 (July 24, US time), President Seki participated in the Labor Fest event in San Francisco via Zoom. The event was organized to commemorate the late Brother Hiroyuki Yamamoto, who played a pivotal role in fostering international solidarity between Doro-Chiba and our allies in the United States, and to further advance international solidarity.
In his opening speech, President Seki presented the fight for the separation and independence of Doro-Chiba, the struggle against the Division and Privatization of the JNR, the campaign to overturn the dismissal of 1,047 workers, and the current status of the legal battles.
He also emphasized that, as the Japanese PM Takaichi aligns with US Trump and moves toward wars of aggression, specifically against China. Now, the struggle to stop war through cross-border solidarity among workers is more urgent than ever. Furthermore, he expressed his determination to carry on the legacy of the late Brother Yamamoto by fostering international solidarity and called on everyone to participate in the upcoming November 1st National Workers’ All-out Rally.
A discussion followed in response to questions from participants, and the event concluded successfully.
